Meiosis

Meiosis is the form of eukaryotic cell division that produces haploid sex cells or gametes (which contain a single copy of each chromosome) from diploid cells (which contain two copies of each chromosome).DNA replication takes place in S-phase of the Interphase before Meiosis I begins. After that no replication of DNA takes place before completion of Meiosis II .DNA replication occurs only once during meiosis. The process takes the form of one DNA replication followed by two successive nuclear and cellular divisions (Meiosis I and Meiosis II). As in mitosis, meiosis is preceded by a process of DNA replication that converts each chromosome into two sister chromatids.

Meiosis I

Meiosis I separates the pairs of homologous chromosomes.

DNA is not replicate in myosis,is just for separatenor distribute chromosome.Replication is in S phase of interphase.

Meiosis is completed in two steps – meiosis I and meiosis II . DNA replication takes place in S-phase of the Interphase before Meiosis I takes place. Thereafter no replication of DNA takes place before completion of Meiosis II .

DNA replication occurs only once during meiosis.

DNA is replicated during S-phase (Synthesis phase). S-phase comes between G1 phase (Gap 1 phase) and G2 phase(Gap 2 phase) which all comes under interphase. During S-phase DNA replication or DNA duplication or chromatin duplication takes place in nucleus.

Replication OCCURS before meiosis, hence no question of DNA replication during phases of meiosis
